So, What’s a Provincial Nominee Program?

Canada’s provincial nominee program is specifically designed for people who don’t meet the country’s Express Entry System requirements. It’s primarily an alternative to Canada’s  Federal skilled worker visa (PR).

If a person doesn’t have a sufficient CRS score to acquire an invitation to submit their application for the Express Entry Pool, they can benefit from the PNP program. This program can also be helpful to the immigration candidates who don’t meet the eligibility criteria for qualifying for Canada’s PR visa.

This program is helpful for both the provincial government and the candidates. It allows the provincial governments to choose the immigrants entering their premises according to their needs and requirements.

Similarly, it allows the candidates to become permanent residents in one of the provinces.

If a person successfully acquires a suitable provincial nomination, their chances of receiving an ITA (Invitation to Apply) can be increased substantially.

The most basic immigration programs under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program include skilled immigration, business immigration, and express entry to British Columbia.

Eligibility Criteria

If you’re applying through the typical paper process, you need to meet the criteria specified by the Government of Canada.

  • You must be selected/ nominated under that non-Express Entry stream.
  • If a person doesn’t have a nomination, they can contact them directly or follow the nomination guidelines present on their website. Canada’s most popular provincial nominee programs include programs for  Alberta, Ontario, Yukon, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland Labrador.
