Minutes of Settlement

Family Lawyers Brampton

Many out of court discussions between the parties can result in an agreement on few or all of their issues. This agreement is arrived at just before or during the trial and happens before a court.
This agreement is then written, presented to all parties and their respective lawyers for signature. This contract is known as Minutes of Settlement.

The parties make a request for a consent order and present the minutes of settlement to the judge. The minutes are them formally converted to a formal court order ‘by consent’.

The minutes of settlement has to be signed by both the parties and endorsed by the judge in order to be valid and enforceable.
