Work Permit

There are two steps of obtaining a Work Permit:

  1. Apply for a job offer validation
  2. Submit a complete application for Work Permit at a Canadian Consulate or High Commission
  3. In some cases, the applicant is called for an interview

In certain situations, no Work Permit is required to work in Canada including:

  1. International students on a Student Visa
  2. American citizens involved in trades that are a part of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
  3. Spouses of highly skilled workers

Work Permits are also issued under special conditions to Live-In Caregivers, who provide personal care and support to children, elderly or sick persons.
