3 Reasons For Canadian PR Application Rejection

Every year, several immigration applications get rejected in Canada for a multitude of reasons, most of which can be easily avoided. Let’s look at some common reasons why your application for permanent residence in Canada may get rejected.

1. Misrepresentation

Misrepresentation can either be intentional or unintentional. If an applicant misreads an instruction or a question or omits some information, their application may get refused. The IRCC doesn’t ignore any form of misrepresentation in the applications they receive and may mark you as ‘inadmissible’ if the misrepresentation is deliberate. Here are some instances of misrepresentation that may lead to the rejection.

  • Not providing information about a visa refusal for another country.
  • Providing fake documents.
  • Failure to mention a family member.
  • Providing false application regarding your job experience.

Some instances of non-material misrepresentation include;

  • Reversing the birth month and date on the application.
  • Mentioning that you’re single or unmarried when you’re actually divorced.
  • Providing inaccurate information in one of the documents.

2. Health

To apply for permanent residence in Canada, you and your dependents need to acquire a medical examination and checkup from a healthcare professional or doctor accredited by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

Some health issues may lead to the application refusal. If a person applying for permanent residency in Canada needs medication for Hepatitis A or Diabetes, they may be considered a burden on the country’s healthcare system and their application may get refused on health grounds.

However, you can overcome this type of inadmissibility by providing CIC with a medical report about the condition of your medical state and avoiding further medical examinations and delays.

3. Criminality

When you apply for permanent residency in Canada, you need to show criminal background checks from every country you have lived in for six months or longer since you turned 18. Canada needs to ensure that the people entering the country don’t have a criminal background and are not a threat to their own people and communities. A past criminal record may lead to application refusal and inadmissibility to the country.
